Indian Warship INS Trishul Arrives at Alexandria Port During Operational Deployment
Indian Navy’s guided missile frigate INS Trishul has arrived at Alexandria, Egypt, as part of its ongoing operational deployment and successfully conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Egyptian Navy, further strengthening maritime cooperation between the two nations.

According to an Indian Navy release, INS Trishul made a port call at Alexandria from September 14 to 17, 2026. During the visit, the warship participated in a PASSEX with the Egyptian Navy vessel ENS Bernees.
The exercise included coordinated manoeuvring drills, communication exercises and replenishment-at-sea approaches, enabling sailors from both navies to exchange professional expertise and enhance operational interoperability.
The Indian Navy said the port call and PASSEX reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the Indian and Egyptian navies while contributing to deeper maritime cooperation between the two friendly nations.
Upon arrival at Alexandria Harbour, INS Trishul received a warm welcome, with the Egyptian naval ship Al Qadeer escorting the Indian warship into port.

During the visit, the Commanding Officer and crew of INS Trishul paid homage to the brave soldiers commemorated at the Chatby War Memorial, a site that contains 12 burials and honours 19 Indian servicemen who lost their lives in ships sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean during the two World Wars.
India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy, also visited INS Trishul and interacted with the crew. Addressing the personnel aboard the frigate, he underscored the significance of the Indian Navy’s presence in the region and its role in promoting India’s maritime interests and partnerships.
The visit reflects the growing strategic and defence ties between India and Egypt, with both countries continuing to expand cooperation in the maritime domain and regional security initiatives.
