The Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorated its 94th Air Force Day at Air Force Station Hindan, Ghaziabad, showcasing its operational prowess, technological advancement, professionalism, and rich heritage.

The ceremonial Air Force Day Parade (AFDP) was reviewed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh.

Distinguished guests included the Chief of the Army Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff, former Chiefs of the Air Staff, senior military officers, and civilian dignitaries.

The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial march-in of the President’s Colours, symbolising the IAF’s exceptional service, professional excellence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the nation.

Upon arrival, the Chief of the Air Staff was accorded an aerial salute by three Mi-17 1V helicopters flying in the ‘Dhwaj’ formation while trooping the National Flag and the IAF Flag.

The theme for this year’s Air Force Day, “Indian Air Force: Infallible, Impervious and Precise” (भारतीय वायु सेना: अचूक, अभेद्य व सटीक), reflected the IAF’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation’s skies through precision, resilience, and operational excellence.

Addressing the gathering, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh emphasised that “air power is the primary means of protecting national interests.” He reiterated that “the Indian Air Force remains alert, committed and ready to meet any contingency,” underscoring that the force’s operational capability and readiness continue to advance in the right direction.

Highlighting the importance of preparedness, he stated that “an air force can possess the most advanced aircraft in the world, but its true strength is measured by its operational preparedness, how quickly and confidently it can respond whenever called upon.”

Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Air Chief noted that the IAF’s rapid transition into combat operations demonstrated both its “destructive power as well as its effective air defence capabilities.”

On the growing significance of the space domain, Air Chief Marshal Singh observed that “space is a natural extension of the air domain,” while highlighting the expanding collaboration between the IAF, ISRO, and the domestic space industry. He also underlined the Air Force’s role in India’s ambitious Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission.

A static display of IAF assets provided visitors, media representatives, and defence enthusiasts with an opportunity to witness the broad spectrum of the Air Force’s operational and combat capabilities. The display featured fighter aircraft, helicopters, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface guided weapon systems, radars, and one-way attack unmanned aerial systems.

The exhibition also underscored the IAF’s continued emphasis on the Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and the development of indigenous defence capabilities.

Five Unit Citations were presented to:

  • 24 Squadron “The Hawks”
  • 110 Helicopter Unit “The Vanguards”
  • 200 Squadron “Skanda”
  • 2402 Squadron “Vajra”

The celebrations also featured an impressive performance by Team Shakti, the IAF’s all-women Air Warrior Drill Team. Renowned for its precision, agility, and discipline, the team captivated the audience with synchronised movements and intricate formations, symbolising the professionalism and empowerment of women Air Warriors.

The IAF Drummers Team, comprising 33 young Air Warriors, delivered a vibrant performance featuring snare drums, roto drums, bass drums, and cymbals, complemented by dynamic formations and acrobatic displays.

The event further witnessed a spectacular aerial display by the IAF Heritage Flight, celebrating the illustrious legacy of Indian military aviation. A flypast by the vintage Tiger Moth aircraft enthralled spectators and served as a fitting tribute to the Air Force’s glorious heritage.

Following the celebrations at Air Force Station Hindan, the Air Force Day aerial display is scheduled to be held at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, on October 25, 2026.

The parade was commanded by Group Captain Manish Sharma and was followed by an investiture ceremony, during which Air Warriors were honoured with medals for gallantry and distinguished service. Several units were also awarded citations in recognition of their outstanding performance and professional excellence.
