The Indian Navy is scheduled to commission three made-in-India modern naval ships in Kolkata on 21st<\/sup> June 2026 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the West Bengal.<\/p>\n

The three indigenously built frontline platforms that includes a stealth frigate are \u2013\u00a0Dunagiri, Sanshodhak, and Agray.<\/em><\/p>\n

All three warships have been designed by the Indian Navy\u2019s\u00a0Warship Design Bureau\u00a0and constructed by\u00a0Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata,\u00a0the vessels represent key operational capabilities across maritime combat, hydrographic surveying, and anti-submarine warfare.<\/p>\n

Together, they reflect the Navy\u2019s balanced approach to capability development, strengthening blue-water operations, enhancing maritime domain awareness, and securing coastal waters against evolving threats.<\/p>\n

INS Dunagiri<\/em>, the fifth Project 17A stealth frigate,\u00a0is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, including\u00a0BrahMos\u00a0surface-to-surface missiles and the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile system, significantly enhancing the Navy\u2019s combat capability.<\/p>\n

INS Sanshodhak<\/em>, the fourth Survey Vessel (Large),\u00a0is designed for coastal and deep-water hydrographic surveys and collection of oceanographic and geophysical data for defence and civil applications, and is equipped with advanced survey systems including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and Remotely Operated Vehicles.<\/p>\n

INS Agray<\/em>, the fourth of the Arnala-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft,\u00a0is equipped with lightweight torpedoes, indigenous rocket launchers, and shallow-water sonar systems to detect and engage underwater threats in littoral waters.<\/p>\n

The three platforms demonstrate the growing maturity of India\u2019s indigenous shipbuilding ecosystem,\u00a0with indigenous content exceeding 75 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their construction involved extensive participation by Indian industry, including more than\u00a0200 MSMEs, and generated substantial direct and indirect employment.<\/p>\n

The commissioning of these vessels highlights the collaborative efforts of the Government of India, the Indian Navy, public sector shipyards, private industry and MSMEs in advancing the objectives of\u00a0Aatmanirbhar Bharat<\/em>\u00a0and strengthening India\u2019s maritime capabilities.<\/p>\n
